I mentioned before that Team Cyanogen will be working to port ICS to many devices as soon as possible...TODAY I have got some nice and tasty news. Cyanogenmod 9.0 Alpha has been released for a private group of people for testing. They have a fully functional ROM with all the features working. The team on XDA might actually use this ROM and try to tweak it into an even better one! I can't wait for the Stable version to get released or even the Beta version cause it would still rock :DWednesday, November 30, 2011

Quad Core Phones!
Hello folks! Not that recent news lately...but I got a great scoop today. It is at least 2 weeks old BUT they were rumors back then. More news has surfaced the web and it is true indeed...There will be Quad Core phone's as early as 2nd Quarter of 2012!!!
So one of the mostly anticipated phones is the Samsung Galaxy S III and it's latest rumored specs are said to be a 1.5GHz Exynos Quad Core chip. The SII currently has a similar chip, a 1.5GHz but dual core. Now as for screen size etc, a couple of people say it will be the same, so a 4.3" screen while others say it will match the Galaxy Nexus, with a 4.65" screen. And lastly they say it will have 2 GB of RAM. HOWEVER! these are all speculations...there is no definitive proof of these specs BUT it is very likely that this is where smartphones will be going in the near future.
2 HTC phones, the Edge and Zeta's pictures have been leaked. These are said to be carrying a 1.5Ghz Quad Core Snapdragon Processor and a 2.5GHz Processor respectively.
The Edge was the first one to get leaked and even till now, there are no other news. Rumored additional specs are a 4.7" display with 1 GB of RAM. Also with HTC Sense 4.0's newly redesigned UI. And of course, an 8MP Camera with Flash.
The Zeta will come with a smaller screen, so 4.5" and it will have 1 GB of RAM. It will also have the same HTC Sense 4.0, and an 8MP Camera BUT with 2 flashes...don't really know why...anyway, it will lastly come with built in Beats Audio :D
That's all for today! Check back in tomorrow for some news and reviews. I have just created my YouTube Channel BUT I still have to get me a proper recording device...videos should be up! I will try to post app reviews, How to's and maybe unboxing's in the near future!

Samsung GS2 ICS Update & Motorola RAZR Source Code
Hello folks! Not much new stuff in the Android world, but our good friend ouverta has been working real hard to port ICS over to the GS2. Below is his latest video that highlights the features that work such as smoother touch screen on the home screens, the stock Keyboard does not glitch anymore and also the backgrounds can be changed for the lockscreen and home screens.
Here is the video:
ALSO, Motorola was really kind to release the Source code of its amazing Motorola Droid RAZR. The slimmest LTE smartphone on the Market was just released 2 weeks back and now the Devs will be able to toy with the code and offer some awesome improvements/mods. Here is the link for that as well:

Galaxy S II Latest ROM update
Hello fellas! Quick update regarding the ICS port to the Galaxy S II. ouverta from YouTube has made a summary video on all the aspects of the phone that are working. There is no Established Time of Arrival but as soon as there is one, I will be posting links! Couple of highlights are that the latest update allows 2G and 3G network facillity. The Wi-Fi works at 99%...the 1% goes to the actual phone forgetting your pass key after a reboot...but it should get fixed soon. The bluetooth file sharing works perfectly fine and as for the actual theme itself, the lock screen doesn't have a background. It stays black...hope there is a fix for that as well. So here is the video, take a look and don;t forget to Like and Subscribe to this amazing Developer's YouTube Channel!

Galaxy S II ICS Update
Hello folks! Latest update from the Devs that are porting Ice Cream Sandwich source code onto the Galaxy S II. The update 5 video talks about the phone having Wi-Fi! The only issues remaining are that there is NO AUDIO that means, you won't be hearing any ringtones, listen to music or watch videos with sound at the moment. The second issue is with External Storage...the new ROM doesn't support MicroSD's yet. Hope these bugs can get fixed then all Galaxy users will be able to rejoice! Check out the video!
Again, all props to the Devs from the ouverta YouTube channel!

ICS News Update!
Got some pretty cool news about Ice Cream Sandwich!
So firstly, Cyanogenmod has tweeted that they are working on the source code and are planning a release of Cyanogenmod 9 in 2-3 months time. That will definitely be awesome and I seriously can't wait. CM 7 drastically improved everything for many phones, so we know for sure that CM 9 will make phones even awesomer!
Secondly, the Source Code has been ported to the Nexus S! 99% of the phone functions but there are a few issues with the Camera and I believe the Bluetooth.
Last news round up is that, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S II will definitely get a taste of the sandwich!

Google Music has been launched...kinda...
Hey guys! Remember the Google Music Beta that I showed you before? If you do not remember, here is the link to the post BUT today, Google has announced the full version of their Music Providing service. Basically it is an iTunes for Android platforms...
Google Music Beta Post: http://www.allaboutandroids.com/2011/10/google-music-beta.html
The cool features about it though is that you can have your own MP3's and add it to the Google Music list and basically have one main control which will contain all of your songs. You will be able to shop for similar artists and discover newly recommended music for you. You will also be able to listen to your music online via cloud and offline if you choose to. Last but not least, sharing has been made really nicely and has been integrated with Google+ so with this you will be able to promote your pick of the millions of songs in the world! The great part about the cloud service is firstly, once uploaded you will not need to constantly sync music from your phone and then when you move to the tablet, you will need to sync again...everything is linked to your Google account and this will allow you to seamlessly move from device to device and enjoy your music. Secondly, Google is offering free Cloud storage of up to 20,000 SONGS!!! Yes...that is A LOT.

The sad part though...it has only been released in the US and no date for International users have been stated...BUT fear not because as soon as the slightest rumor arises I will inform you :D
For all USA users, here is the official link:

ICS Face Unlock and quick announcement!
Hello folks! Got some sad news today... the famous Ice Cream Sandwich Face Unlock thingamajig doesn't really work that well.
On the day Samsung and Google announced the Galaxy Nexus, on stage the Face Unlock wasn't able to work for 3 testers. After that disappointment, Google said that they will fix the issue and make it work in the best of its capabitlity.
A month after and now the peeps from GSM Arena went to go test it out at the Galaxy Note Convension. Sadly enough, it was perfectly able to read the person's face..but it was his picture! He basically took a picture of himself, took the Galaxy Nexus and showed it the picture and BAM, the phone got unlocked.
So moral of the story, don't let the thief that stole your phone have a good quality picture of you or else he/she will be able to unlock your phone :P
LOL
Anyways, I think that this will be really cool once it is fully functional. I myself, use the ASUS Smart Logon technology on my laptop and I think it's great. It always saves me time typing in the password and I have to say, even though I have a 0.3 Megapixel Webcam, the laptop distinguishes me from another person. Can't wait to see the final version of this Unlock Screen. That's all for today! Check back in tomorrow for some awesome news and reviews. I will be starting a YouTube channel as soon as I get hold of a proper Camcorder.
BTW I just created an email for this website and it is: allboutandroids@gmail.com
Watch out since it is not allAboutandroids but allboutandroids@gmail.com without the "a"...someone else had my website's gmail account so...yea...

ASUS Transformer Prime
OK Guys! ASUS has done it this time! They will be releasing the first Quad-Core tablet on the market later this Quarter. After the amazing success of the predeccesor, the Prime completely renovates the way we look and use technology. The Eee Pad Transformer had the Nvidia Tegra 2 which WAS the most powerful CPU and GPU combined...but now...the Prime will have the MOST POWERFUL CPU and GPU! It is called the Nvidia Kal-El project aka Tegra 3. Nvidia have already planned their future CPU and GPU chips and are naming them after Super Heros. Tegra 3 is Kal-El which is Superman's real name, 4 is Wayne (Batman), 5 is Logan (Wolverine) and 6 is Stark (Ironman)!
The Prime has everything that a person could possibly desire. It comes with a 10.1" Super IPS+ screen with Gorilla Glass. The + basically has a higher contrast ratio and better brightness settings so that you can enjoy your Movie watching and Gaming to its fullest. The screen is also scratch resistant and therefore will always stay in top shape. Like mentioned before, it will have the Nvidia Tegra 3 chip which has 4 CPUs running at 1.3GHz and 6 GPUs! Now ASUS states that with the Keyboard dock (which contains an additional battery) the Prime should last 18 hours...well we will have to wait to actually confirm that. Normally the dock provides an addition 6-7 hrs. It also has improved cameras with a front facing of 1.3MP and a back camera at 8MP with flash which will be able to film 1080p. Now this beautiful device has also been redisigned into a very futuristic look following the ASUS Zenbook line of Ultrabooks. It also comes in 2 colors, Gold and Silver.
The Prime will be released in 2 sizes the 32GB and 64GB and it has a micro-sd slot which can further be used to extend the storage capacities. It will be shipped with Android Honeycomb 3.2 BUT promises the ICS upgrade. In the end this lovely piece of tech will cost $499 for the 32GB and $599 for the 64GB. The prices include the dock which costs $149.
The official website's link is here:

Take a look and start saving your money!!!
OH! Take a look at the Tegra 3 Gaming Capabilities:
Now you really want it...don't you!

ASUS Padfone

Hey Guys! Today I'll be introducing to you, the amazing ASUS Padfone. This device is basically a smartphone with rumored specs being: 4" IPS display, with a 1.0GHz dual core, 1GB of RAM and a 5MP camera with flash. As well as a Tablet! Now the Tablet itself contains extension I/O ports and a battery pack BUT doesn't have any specs such as processor, memory etc. The smart phone is clocked into the tablet which will then allow the user to have a 10.1" display and an extended battery life. How it works is that the smart phone has a Micro USB and a Micro HDMI port which will connect to the respective ports on the tablet. The switch is pretty much instant!
This looks like a really awesome and innovative device and hope that it gets released soon. Here is the official link where there are trailers available:

Battery Saving Tips!
Hello folks! Today I'll be giving you a few tips that will drastically save your battery life.
1. Using Battery Calibration: Whenever you flash with a new ROM, the file that reads the battery level does not function optimally. What this app does is basically deletes the current battery file and creates a fresh new one which will be accurate. The better reading helps the phone not to waste extra battery life. Basic steps are to fully charge, then simply tap on Calibrate battery. YOU NEED ROOT for this!
Android Market Link:https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
2. Uninstalling Unused Apps: The more apps installed on your phone, the more memory will be used...your RAM will be busy keeping all the unnecessary apps loaded so that you may use them at any given time. That makes the CPU have to work more times since it needs to go open and go close the apps each time. The CPU working it's ass off will drain the battery that's why you should get rid of any apps, games that might be on your phone for no reason. Here is a great app that is able to uninstall apps by batches.
Android Market Link:https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.infolife.uninstaller&hl=en
3. DO NOT USE A TASK MANAGER: This is one of the most crucial mistakes many people make...the task manager kills all of your apps that are running but after one sec the CPU has to go and fetch each app that is required for the phone to run properly...this basically is a waste of resources. For example when you close Google Services...the next second the CPU has to go and start Google Services again or else none of your GAPPS will work.
4. Use less: Your main homescreen should not have the complete 9 pages but a maximum of 5 or so. Having 9 pages causes them to be stick in your RAM which will lower your battery life. Also, if willing, do NOT use a live wallpaper or use it on the slowest speed to save battery life. The screen brightness for most phones can easily be dropped to 50% and you won't even notice much of a difference but this will increase your battery life.
5. Use Airplane Mode: Whenever you find yourself in an area that has no connection such as buildings with lots of radio frequencies or even when you go to school/work, switch to airplane mode while you study/work. This will extensively increase the battery life. When you need to use your phone, simply toggle the Airplane mode off and wait for a couple of secs...you will be able to fully use your phone's network again.
The best way to control your phone's settings is the power control widget. This will allow a user to turn off GPS when not in use, turn off data, turn Airplane mode on etc.
Well, I hope this helps a few of you out there!

Mango, HD Manga Reader App
Mango provides many features such as My Library which allows a user to download specific chapters from any manga and basically save it on your phone for Offline Reading. It also has a Favorite section that allows a user to bookmark his/her favorite series and then get the latest updates just for the chosen ones. Another great part about this APP is the number of sources it provides such as Mangareader.net, Mangastream.com, Mangafox.com, Mangashare.com, MangAble.com and lastly AnimeA.com.
Those sources basically give you the most available series possible for a Manga App. I give this app a solid 5/5!
Here is the Devs Page:

Here is the free version's latest .apk:
